Lockyer Valley Regional Council received funding from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, and the Queensland Government’s Unite and Recover Stimulus Package to build Fairways Park Stage 1. This involved the construction of a multi-element playground with picnic facilities and public amenities, footpaths, and landscaping for the community and visitors to enjoy.
GenEng Solutions was contracted to provide the design of civil infrastructure including:
- Earthworks
- Conveyance of stormwater through the site and management of stormwater quality
- Connection of reticulated water (which involved consultation with Urban Utilities)
- Carpark design
We also delivered Water Feasibility and Stormwater Management reports to support development applications, provided construction certification for the civil aspects of the project, and subcontracted lighting design (liaising with the landscape architect and Council to achieve this).
There are future stages of this project to come, and the ultimate development will include significant turfed areas for formal sports fields which will provide a high level of services to users and the wider community.
With this in mind, GenEng were also commissioned to determine the feasibility of converting an existing nearby detention basin into a combined retention and detention structure that would provide a water storage volume and water source for irrigation of the turf an gardens within the newly developed park.
